Before starting to increase your direct bookings, you first need to implement our scripts. There are two options of doing that; you can either ask your web developer to implement them directly in the source code text or, if you have a Google Tag Manager account set up, implement them this way.

Where to find the scripts

The link above will take you to a page in your Hotelchamp platform where you can find the scripts that were specifically generated for your account.

You can also access this page on your platform through Settings > Control Panel > Implementation.

How to create a tag
Open your GTM account and go into the container where you want to place the scripts in.

In the menu on the left side, click on "Tags".

If no tag from Hotelchamp has been set up yet, click on the button "New" in the top right corner. In case there is already a Hotelchamp tag, you can edit the existing one. Just keep in mind that there are different scripts for website and booking engine and that each script requires a seperate tag.

How to configure a tag
Where it says "Untitled Tag", put in a unique name so that you can easily recognize the tag later on.

Under "Tag Configuration", choose "Custom HTML" and paste in your Hotelchamp script.

How to trigger a tag
As a next step, you need to select which pages of your container should be triggered by the script. The first script should be implemented on all pages of the website, the second one on all pages of the booking engine except the confirmation page and the last script needs to be implemented only on the confirmation page. You can also find this information underneath each script in your dashboard.

How to test the tag triggering
As a last step, you need to save the newly created tag and click on "Preview" in the top right corner. Afterwards, you can double check if the tag is being fired on the right pages by refreshing your website or booking engine, depending on which script you have implemented.
